“Mermaid Liberty Cuffs” ….. These cuff liners were non-regulation and therefore went on the inside of the sailor’s dress blue uniform sleeve cuffs.  The only time they would be visible, was when the sailor was “on liberty” and away from the ship.  In a casual atmosphere [aka: bar], the sailor would roll up his sleeves for all to see, since the various embroidered designs were always quite colorful !  [Approximate Size: 2" x 5-½" each]
